Return of the Foragers...

After a successful visit in May of this year, Fred Gillam (a.k.a. Fred the Forager) will be returning to Thornclose Barn in May 2017 to host another full weekend of North Devon foraging.  Following on from the success of this years course we are glad to see a return visit in the calendar.  If you'd like to join Fred for a weekend of collecting wild food around the beautiful North Devon coastal countryside then follow the link below and find out more.  I can personally vouch for Fred's exceptional expert knowledge of the edible wild plants to be found in the UK having joined him last year on several enjoyable and very informative mushroom forays.

A Forager's follow up

We recently had a group of Foragers staying in the barn lead by renowned expert Fred Gillam - a.k.a. "Fred the Forager".  It seemed as though they had a wonderful stay in the barn and found plenty to keep them interested in the nearby fields, hedges and beaches.  Fred reported a huge variety of tasty finds from seaweeds to salad leaves and primrose to plantain - all in all a memorable weekend for all those taking part.  For more information on the courses run by Fred visit his website at www.thewildsideoflife.co.uk

For those of you not so confident about foraging for your food we've just planted a large herb bed in the garden to satisfy the less adventurous visitors need to pick something!

Coastal Foraging at Thornclose Barn

Fred Gillam a.k.a. Fred the Forager will be running a Weekend of Coastal foraging based in and around Thornclose Barn.  The course takes place from the evening of the 13th May to Sunday 15th May 2016.  Expect lots of coastal, hedgerow and meadow foraging, lots of cooking and sampling of wild food and evenings spent chatting by the fire with a glass or two of Dandelion and Elderflower wine.
